Cabinet of Wonders

Thrilled to share my work on the app icon and lettering for Cabinet of Wonders—the first mobile guide for museums and galleries that takes full advantage of artificial intelligence! Designed for curious travellers and lifelong learners, this app helps uncover amazing wonders across the globe. The first version of the app launches in early 2025—stay tuned!

This project was pure handmade lettering—no AI shortcuts here! :) After countless iterations (and lots of trashed concepts!), I moved away from clichés like hidden symbols and generative stars. Instead, the final lettering evolved from one of my script typefaces, carefully redrawn for perfect curves. A bold shadowed outline with high contrast won the day, in both one- and two-line composition.

Some wondering googles and playful details gave off a hint of spooky Halloween vibes—think googly-eyed ghosts and mysterious shapes—but it was all part of the fun experimentation. The search for the perfect symbol for Cabinet of Wonders was a journey  itself, but in the end, the lettering stayed as simple as possible without any illustrative symbols.

For the app icon, the CW ligature was a real challenge and joy—exploring just how many ways C and W can come together!
