Technical information
Monolina Brush is an extension of Monolina script typeface. The aim was to further develop the linear skeleton's potential by applying different writing tool strokes. The Monolina Brush got a significant facelift. It aims to simulate writing with a brush, whose tip leads to a point at the exit strokes of the curves, as seen in the lowercase and swash shapes of the uppercase. The swashes may be more rigid than the original Monolina, but they must stay! The fictitious character of the wet brush also gives the characters a slight bend in the stems and rounder tops and bottoms. To make the connections and joints between characters work well, I redrew a few shapes and added a few contextual substitution lines. All diacritical marks, punctuation and other symbols, so as are the new small capitals, are updated for impeccable typesetting.
I've tested Monolina Brush a few times on my collection of markers for calligraphy workshops, on murals, and also on my skis until it became a sort of my core script typeface. To give Monolina Brush a new context I'm finally releasing it out and I’m going to create some alternative versions, like dry marker, pointed pen or graphite.
