Ella Tonies Script
I had the opportunity to work with TypeTogether team to create the new custom script typeface for German company Tonies known for its interactive audio system for children. The goal was to replace their previous script font (Bello by Underware) with a more refined option that aligned with the brand's playful yet elegant tone.
Ella Tonies Script is designed to be versatile and legible across various media and sizes. The typeface has been carefully designed to improve the clarity of certain glyphs and includes many contextual alternate letters for enhanced handwriting appearance, such as ligatures, stylistic sets and swash glyphs.
The aim was to create a semi connected script with universally shaped letters and distinctive brush feel. My handwritten sketches simply led to a bespoke headline script typeface full of hidden loops, jumpy titling letters and some fun symbols. Overall, a typeface that was fun to work on!
